Schmitt Engineering, founded in 1996 by Al Schmitt, develops commercial and residential site plans, septic plans, and commercial and residential subdivisions.  We are not only expert at producing quality drawings in a turnaround time that will keep your projects moving forward and on schedule, we excel at forging close relationships and strong communications with all of our clients, whether developers, general contractors, homebuilders, or individual home buyers.  No matter what the size of your company or project, your complete satisfaction is our biggest concern.

Schmitt Engineering is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, the Richmond/Spring Grove Chamber of Commerce and the Woodstock Noon Rotary Club.

  Al is an alumnus of Southern Illinois University, graduating with a degree in   Mechanical Engineering in 1984.  His civil engineering career started at Smith Engineering Consultants, Inc. in McHenry, IL where he worked for six years, achieving the position of project manager/team leader in charge of subdivision design and development.  While at Smith he also represented the Village of Spring Grove as civil engineer.  After leaving Smith, Al spent a year with Rooney Consultants in Lakemoor, IL, working as a project manager before departing to found Schmitt Engineering.
